So what is a Health and Wellness Coach?

 

It is probably best to start with what I am not. I am not a mentor, counselor, consultant, or teacher. I am not a Health Guru. Anyone can call themselves a Coach. It is an unregulated title. However, most coaches are not a Nationally Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach. I am proud to be a NBC-HW Coach, having met specific program requirements and passing a rigorous exam. I have an in-depth education in the many science-based practices that improve both our health and how we grow and change as humans. So, what does that mean to you? You can be assured you are in “good hands.” I have mastered the core competencies that will serve you best in the coaching process.

And so, coaching is?

 

It is a process of discovery by using active listening skills, being asked powerful questions, expanding your thought processes, identifying limited beliefs, designing action steps, and following up. I will listen to help you generate ideas. All that self-talk you constantly hear will be addressed. You will be empowered to expand your thinking and therefore get you to the point of doing what you want to do along with doing what you know you should do. This is referred to as a break-though. Why Me?

 

Hi, I am Marla. I am a Nationally Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach. I help people get to where they want to be. For most people it is not about “why” they want to improve their health, energy, confidence, or other concerns, but “how” to go about achieving these goals.

 

The feeling of not be connected to your own “should do’s” can keep you from reaching your potential and having someone help you on your journey, is often paramount. I most often work with people that have chronic conditions. Most of these people have chronic inflammation. Many studies suggest that chronic inflammation could play a role in a range of conditions, from cancer to asthma.

 

Chances are you also suffer from STRESS, the #1 health crisis, not just on Long Island, but across the world. In fact, many studies have shown that “ongoing stress is linked to the 6 leading causes of death.”  More than 75% of doctor’s office visits are for stress related ailments and complaints. It silently controls our life, but   you can take your power back!

HELLO CALL

 

Purpose:

 

Let’s get to know each other and see if this is a good fit. No money exchange. We will have time for me to hear about your daily routines, interests, personal values, motivations, your visions, and your expectations of the coaching process. We will go over the coaching process, what health coaching is and isn’t, my philosophy and approach, what a typical session looks like, what follow-up sessions look like and policies and procedures. Following this call, you will have time to decide if coaching is for you!

 

DISCOVERY CALL

Purpose:

 

The second step to any of our customized health coaching programs. The goal of this meeting is to review your unique lifestyle so we can begin to investigate and identify what is needed to get your unique body to enjoy optimal health. You will have a choice of completing assessments prior to the call or not completing them and just giving me a run down during our conversation. I will send you the assessments, if you would like, if for nothing else then for your own self-discovery. Again, your choice.
